Free Printable Mazes for Kids
These free printable mazes for kids are my go to for quiet time, rainy afternoons and early finishers. You get six mazes in one PDF, from a gentle easy maze to a big, twisty hard one.
Mazes look like simple fun, and they are. They also build focus, planning and pencil control, because kids have to look ahead and try again when they hit a dead end. Every maze has exactly one way through, and the answer key is included.

Perfect for:
- a calm activity after school
- early finishers in the classroom
- restaurants, waiting rooms and long car rides
- indoor recess on a rainy day
- a screen free break at home
Difficulty Level
Each level gets two mazes, so kids can warm up on one and then try the next on their own.
| Level | Maze size | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Easy | 8 by 10 squares, wide paths | Preschool and kindergarten |
| Medium | 14 by 18 squares | 1st to 3rd grade |
| Hard | 22 by 28 squares | 4th grade and up |
Not sure where to start? Begin one level lower than you think. A quick win makes kids excited to try the next maze.

What’s Included
- 2 easy mazes
- 2 medium mazes
- 2 hard mazes
- 2 answer key pages with every solution path marked in red
That is 8 pages in total. Every maze has a clear Start and Finish arrow, so even little ones know where to go.
Tips for Helping Kids Solve Mazes
A few small tricks make mazes less frustrating and a lot more fun, especially for younger kids.
- Trace with a finger first. Let kids follow a path with a finger before they use a pencil. Fewer eraser marks, more confidence.
- Start at the finish. On a hard maze, working backwards from the Finish arrow often shows the right path faster.
- Use a pencil, not a crayon. Thin lines stay inside narrow paths and are easy to erase after a dead end.
- Celebrate dead ends. Hitting a wall is part of the game. Saying “good try, go back and look again” keeps kids going.
- Time the older kids. Kids in 3rd grade and up love racing the clock or racing a sibling on the same maze.
Why Mazes Are Good for Kids
Mazes ask kids to plan a route, notice where a path leads and change direction when something does not work. That kind of thinking is useful far beyond paper puzzles. Drawing a smooth line between the walls also strengthens the small hand muscles kids need for writing.
Download and Print
Click the link below to open the PDF, then print it at home or at school. There is no email sign up and nothing to unlock. It prints on US Letter paper, and it also fits A4 if you choose “fit to page”.
Tip: slide a page into a sheet protector and hand your child a dry erase marker. Now one maze can be solved again and again.
