Preschool and Kindergarten Mazes: Free Printable Worksheets
These free preschool and kindergarten maze worksheets are made for the very first mazes a child tries. The paths are extra wide, the walls are thick and bold, and each maze has only a few turns.
That makes them a perfect first step for three to six year olds. Kids practice holding a pencil, following a path with their eyes and drawing a line without crossing the walls. You get four mazes and an answer key in one PDF.

Perfect for:
- preschool and pre k morning work
- kindergarten centers and early finishers
- practicing pencil grip at home
- a quiet activity before nap time
- little siblings who want to do homework too
Difficulty Level
| Mazes | Maze size | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| 4 mazes | 5 by 6 squares, extra wide paths | Preschool, pre k and kindergarten |
Every maze has one clear path, a big Start arrow and a big Finish arrow. There are no tiny gaps or confusing corners, so kids can finish on their own and feel proud.
When your child finishes all four with ease, move up to the easy level in our free printable mazes for kids.

How to Use Preschool Mazes
For children who have never done a maze, try these steps:
- Show the arrows first. Point to Start and Finish and explain that the line goes from one to the other.
- Trace with a finger. Let your child walk a finger through the path before picking up a pencil.
- Use a thick pencil or crayon. Chunky tools are easier for small hands to control.
- Keep it short. One or two mazes at a time is plenty for a preschooler.
- Praise the effort. Crossing a wall is fine. Just go back and try again together.
Skills Kids Build With Mazes
Simple mazes help with fine motor control, visual tracking and problem solving. Those are the same skills kids use when they start writing letters, so a maze is a fun way to get ready for handwriting practice.
